Custom Orders

I (almost always) like custom work because I think there's value in making things tailored specifically to individual needs and tastes is lost with mass-production. Please don't hesitate to contact me (via Instagram, email or the Contact Page).  If you have general gear questions or would like recommendations I may be able to help out or point in the right direction as well.

Fabrics / Materials

Sustainable / Recycled:

- Fabric: Most of the Eco fabrics I prefer come from Challenge, which began making sailcloth over 100 years ago. Their ECOPAK line is a waterproof, light and durable technical fabric. The RBC line includes recycled Ballistic Nylon and CORDURA (two of toughest fabrics available), as well as some ultralight waterproof linings. All use recycled fabric and film (waterproof coating) with non-toxic adhesives.

- Zippers: YKK is the gold standard across almost all industries and they now manufacture 100% recycled zippers (NATULON) to the same specifications as their regular offerings.

- Other: It's difficult to consistently source good-quality recycled hardware. I use recycled webbing and buckles from Germany and some Canadian distributors have begun to offer eco-friendly options as well.

Leather:

I do prefer to work with vegetable-tanned leather since it reduces some of the most toxic chemicals involved in chrome-tanning, generally lasts better and there are more options for dyes and finishes. I also up-cycle leather from jackets, bags and use factory seconds and scraps where possible.  Unfortunately, many of the leather alternatives are environmentally destructive in the manufacturing and breakdown processes (Article: Fake Leather). While real leather is a renewable resource when animals are raised ethically and responsibly, factory farming is an atrocity and contributing to it should be avoided where possible. High-fashion hides that only use a tiny part of the animal and are not a byproduct of animals raised in other industries are also inhumane and wasteful.

Warranty

If anything breaks under any remotely normal circumstances it will be repaired or replaced. In completely abnormal circumstances, if it's a cool and / or funny story, that will also covered.

About Me

I make stuff. Over the years I spent way too much and went through loads of badly (and generally unethically) made outdoor gear. I started watching Youtube and got a sewing machine about a year ago. Started off doing stuff for myself, friends and family. Over time I got told enough times to sell stuff that here we are. I make everything on here myself, start to finish.
